There are plenty of other things to do besides the beach. Head south to Santa Caterina di Pittinuri or San Giovanni di Sinis, visit the ruins of Tharros, a city founded by the Phoenicians dating back to 730BC, or the impressive Nuraghe, Neolithic buildings dating back some 3500 years. You can visit the salt flats near Oristano and see flamingos on the lagoons, or visit Tinnura, known for their amazing murals, of times gone by, and Flussio known for their basket weaving. Go wine tasting in one of the many artisan vineyards or go to Alghero and on to Capo Caccia and Grotto di Nettuno.

Closer to home, go on a stroll around "Sa Costa" the old quarter of Bosa and be prepared to be amazed by this hidden and unspoilt gem, visit a few churches or catch the little green train to Macomer where you will see amazing landscape impossible to see from the road.

Local agencies and tourist office can help with further information on outdoor activities, excursions and festivals.
